Ingredients

  • 300g Green Beans

  • 200g Plain Flour (for the batter) 

  • 400g Soya Milk

  • 2 tbsp Za’atar (optional) 

  • Sea Salt to taste

  • Breadcrumbs (ideally Panko if available)

  • Extra Flour for coating

  • 500ml Vegetable or Sunflower Oil

Directions

  • Wash and trim the green beans and cook them in salted boiling water for 3 minutes, drain and transfer to a bowl of ice and water to prevent discolouring.
  • Once cool drain again, dry with a kitchen towel and set aside.
  • Whisk the batter flour, water and za’atar in a bowl until smooth.
  • Coat in the beans in the extra flour, then in batter and then in breadcrumbs. Repeat the steps twice.
  • Heat the oil on a medium high heat in a large saucepan and cook the beans until golden brown.
  • Drain and pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve with a lemon wedge and any favoured dips you desire.
